Huronia

HURONIA Shells of this genus have a large, straight siphuncle, with long segments separated by strong constrictions. Complex canals are present. The central canal is very narrow. Habitat: This genus lived in shallow seas as a scavenger or predator. It was able to swim and adjust its position in the water column by moving liquid along the siphuncle from chamber to chamber. Remark: Only the robust siphuncle of the species is preserved in the specimen. The chambers and outer wall are missing. © 1992 Cyril Walker, David Ward .
