Trimerocephalus
TRIMEROCEPHALUS
Trilobites molted periodically as they grew, and the the trilobite molts of Trimerocephalus are often found preserved. A fossil can be recognized as a molt when all parts of the exoskeleton are present but separated. The head shield is relatively short. There are no eyes and no genal spines. The wide pleurae have down-turned tips.
Habitat: This was a deep-water, bottom-dwelling trilobite.
Remark: This genus is typically found in Devonian shales.
