Phyllograptus
PHYLLOGRAPTUS
This colony comprised four series of thecae arranged back-to-back in a crosslike formation. Usually due to compression, only a pair of thecae are clearly visible on shale specimens. The thecae are long and curved with small apertural lips. The generic name, Phyllograptus, refers to the leaflike appearance of these flattened colonies.
Habitat: Phyllograpus floated freely in the open ocean.
