EVOLUTION OF LIGHT ![]()
"If we can see purposive behavior in animals or man, we have provisional grounds for beliving that there is within the organism some sort of expectancy of the future, which entails or implies a capacity for ideation, an intergration of ideas about past and future, and a temporal organization of ideas." (W.H.Thorpe) I believe that biological Evolution is not simply chance and necessity. That could never have produced us with our values. I can sense with him that evolution may be the instrument of a purpose, lifting it beyond chance and necessity at least in the transcendence that brought forth human creatures gifted with self-consciousness. Cultural evolution then takes over from biological evolution and soon becomes crucial in natural selection, not only because of the creation and development of the values. For example, altruism serves well in giving the moral basis for a society dedicated to the welfare of its members.(John C.Eccles) |
